Rock atop Canadian Tire

May 11, 2020 | 10:46 AM

PRINCE GEORGE–Don’t be alarmed if you see people jamming out to rock music atop Canadian Tire next weekend, as it’s all part of the first of its kind–a free Drive-in concert.

Rooftop Rock will take place on Saturday, May 23, at 7:30 p.m. and will allow guests to experience a concert in a Drive-in-type atmosphere. The concert allows for physical distancing while enjoying rock music in the comfort of your car or if you can’t make it out, through an online livestream.

“It is really exciting to think that this event may bring back some form of ‘normalcy’ to music lovers in our community.”–Kyle Sampson, Event Producer

Guests will arrive at the event and stay in their cars, which will be spaced out in the parking lot, for the duration of the concert while turning their radios on to an FM frequency to tune into the live music.

“We expect all patrons to follow the rules, stay in their vehicles, and maintain physical distancing at all times – otherwise we’re going to shut it down and stop the event. We will not tolerate irresponsible behaviour, and one person very well may ruin it for everyone,” added Sampson.

Studio 720, a local hard rock band, will be playing a variety of classic covers, along with some of their original music.

Donations will be taken online to support the Wheeln’ Warriors of the North to help raise funds for the B.C. Cancer Foundation. Event coordinators hope to raise at least $10,000 through the event.

Anyone feeling sick is asked to please stay at home in order to keep the public safe.
