UPDATE: 15 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., 5 deaths

VICTORA–15 new cases of COVID-19 were reported today by Health Minister Adrian Dix, and B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

No new cases were reported in the Northern Health Region today, the number remains at 58 confirmed cases in the north.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 878
  • Fraser Health: 1,164
  • Vancouver Island Health: 126
  • Interior Health: 181
  • Northern Health: 58

The new cases bring B.C.’s total number of cases to 2,407. 359 of those cases are currently active in the province.

Five deaths were reported today (May 15) four in the Fraser Health Region, and one in Vancouver Coastal Health. This brings B.C.’s death toll to 140.

One new acute-care outbreak has been reported in the Abbotsford Regional Hospital. To date, there are 15 long-term care or assisted living facilities and five acute-care units that have active cases.

One new community outbreak was also reported today at a fruit and vegetable plant in Coquitlam, an investigation is ongoing and active contract tracing is underway, the plant remains open at this time.
