VICTORIA — Just two new cases of COVID-19 in B.C. over the past 24 hours, and none in Northern Health.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says that brings the total number of test positive cases in B.C. to 2446 though 1975 of those people – or 80.7 per cent – have fully recovered.

Here’s the regional breakdown:

Vancouver Coastal Health: 883

Fraser Health: 1196

Vancouver Island Health: 126

Interior Health: 181

Northern Health: 60

Henry says there are 325 active cases in the province. Forty-five people are in hospital and 12 are in critical care or intensive care units. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation.

Sadly, there were three additional deaths bringing the provincial total to 146.

Today is the first day that many businesses in B.C. can reopen and Henry is assuring people the province would not be allowing many businesses to do so if officials did not think they could do so safely.

But she is again urging owners to take the time needed to safely re-open.
