Emergency livestock fence panels

PRINCE GEORGE – According to emergency responders, the two major highways that run through our region are becoming busy with vehicles transporting livestock.

Taking a proactive approach to safety, the Beaverly Volunteer Fire Rescue has a response plan in place to better deal with accidents involving loose livestock on the highway.

The Beaverly volunteer fire rescue hall is located west of Prince George on Highway 16. This spring the hall became the home for a new piece of emergency equipment that’s not typically found at a fire hall. WATCH CLIP:

According to Chief Perrin once an animal gets loose after an accident it may become a danger to passing vehicles and emergency crews that are responding.

The trailer was donated by the Mud River Farmers institute so the equipment can be mobile with the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.

According to Chief Perrin, many of the fire departments in the province of Alberta have this type of equipment and the Beaverly Fire Rescue Hall is one of the first in the province to have emergency livestock fence panels.
