IIO investigate Prince George incident

SURREY—The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of B.C. is investigating an incident in Prince George, that happened earlier this week.

On Tuesday, May 19 at around 3:30 p.m. Prince George RCMP responded to a call of a person allegedly chasing another individual with a weapon in the downtown, near the intersection of 3rd Ave. and Dominion St.

After being taken into custody, the man was found to have injuries that may have occurred during the arrest. He was transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services for assessment.

The IIO says they will be investigating to determine if the the injuries to the suspect may have resulted by the officers’ actions or inaction.
