Search to recover body of man called off, plans to resume later this year

FRASER LAKE—The search to recover the body of a missing man has been called off by RCMP.

The call to have the Under Water Recovery Team stand down was made Wednesday, May 20, in the search for the body of Jason Bouchard.

“We would like to remind the public to report anything out of the ordinary on the Stellako River or in Fraser Lake to the police.”— Sgt Jason Rumming, NCO i/c Fraser Lake Detachment

RCMP were made aware of Bouchard’s disappearance after he failed to return from a boating trip on the Stellako River. A search was conducted which discovered an overturned boat on the river, police say they believe Bouchard was unable to make it safely to shore.

Search and Rescue efforts are planned to resume in July once water levels recede.
