PRINCE GEORGE — Update: The Rooftop Rock Drive-In Concert Experience set for tomorrow night has been postponed following today’s directive from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

“To say that we’re disappointed and frustrated by the lack of clarity and last-minute communication as it pertains to our event is well beyond an understatement,” says event producer Kyle Sampson. “We wholeheartedly disagree with how the order was delivered and the lack of clarity it provides, but we’re complying and postponing the event because following these recommendations is the right thing to do.”

Sampson adds that vehicles were to be parked in a checker-board type pattern leaving every other space empty to ensure proper physical distancing.

“The row behind each vehicle would be staggered from the one in front, providing patrons with the best view possible of Studio 720, who were to be playing from the roof of CN Centre. Despite enhanced spacing, patrons would still be required to stay their vehicle and follow all the laws and health orders that are in place.”

The event was also going to collect donations for cancer research. You can still donate by clicking here.

A new date for the show has not been determined.

Earlier: Tomorrow night’s rooftop rock show outside CN Centre may be in doubt due to a new order released this afternoon by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

The order imposes a limit on the number of cars allowed to attend drive-in concerts.

“While Phase 2 is now underway, the provincial health officer order restricting mass gatherings to no more than 50 individuals remains in place. Further, the order has been amended to also include no more than 50 vehicles for outdoor drive-in concerts, with a restriction on the sale of refreshments. Anyone attending these events must stay in their cars unless they have to go to washrooms, which must be serviced with running water for proper hand hygiene.”

Now word yet on what this means for the concert.

The show, originally scheduled for the Canadian Tire parking lot, was moved to CN Centre at Exhibition Park due to popular demand.

The concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tomorrow and is due to feature local hard rock act Studio 720. FULL VIDEO STORY:
