PG man facing ten charges after being found with illegal firearm

PRINCE GEORGE—A Prince George man is facing ten charges after being pulled over for displaying stolen license plates on a vehicle, and being found in possession of an illegal firearm.

On Tuesday, May 19, 2020 Prince George RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in a parking lot on Austin Road in Prince George. Police say the vehicle was displaying stolen license plates.

The driver resisted arrest, but was taken into custody shortly after.

Police proceeded to discover a loaded, prohibited firearm on the floorboard of the driver’s seat. 27-year-old Jamie Wade Fatum is being charged with ten offences:

  • possession of a firearm without being authorized,
  • possession of a ammunition without being authorized,
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle,
  • careless use of a firearm,
  • possession of a firearm without a license,
  • possession of a firearm while knowingly not having a license,
  • possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace,
  • removal of a serial number from a firearm,
  • resist arrest,
  • possession of property obtained by crime.

A female passenger was arrested at the time of the incident, but later released without a charge.

Fatum has been held in custody and will appear in court on June 12th.
