VICTORIA—Day three, since Thursday of last week, of no new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health Region, however provincially 11 new cases were announced.

No new deaths were reported, the death toll remains at 161. Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry says she is happy not report any new deaths over the past 24 hours in the province. “We want to be able to do this every day,” —no new cases—said Henry and mentioned that in order to do that she needs British Columbians to trust that they are taking things at the best possible pace, with the safety of British Columbians top of mind.

As of today there are 37 people in hospital due to COVID-19 and seven of those are in the ICU or Critical Care.

2,122 people have recovered from the virus.

There are no new health care facility outbreaks and one at the Richmond Hospital has been declared over, no new community outbreaks were reported today either.

Dr. Henry mentioned once again that this is the last week for British Columbians to share their experience through the COVID-19 pandemic in the SPEAK: Your story, our future survey. As of this morning 321,000 people have taken the survey in the province. Henry mentioned that they are hoping to get more people in northern B.C. and small communities to complete the survey, as well as elderly British Columbians.

Health Minister Adrian Dix announced that the province is receiving a new machine that will be able to test masks and respirators here in B.C.

The machine named, TS18310A, will test the efficiency and function of respiratory masks and compute the results to ensure that the new products are safe and effective from a filtration perspective.

A town hall meeting will be held in Northern Health this Thursday, addressing COVID-19 in the north.
