The Exploration Place gardens to give back
PRINCE GEORGE—Many people have taken to gardening during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Exploration Place is no different, they’re planting seeds and growing produce to support the vulnerable in our community.
The Explorer’s Urban Garden has been a part of the Exploration Place for many years, according to Assistant Curator, Chad Hellenius, who says it’s been used for summer programming at the museum in the past.
But this year, due to COVID-19, the use of the garden solely for programming wasn’t a possibility—so they decided to tend to it and grow fruits and veggies to give back to the community.
“We didn’t want this land to just lay foul, we wanted to use it and use it for a positive thing.”—Chad Hellenius, Assistant Curator, The Exploration Place
