VICTORIA — B.C. continues to flatten the curve when it comes to COVID-19.

Today, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced just four new cases in the province and none in the Northern Health region.

That brings the total number of people infected with the virus in B.C. to 2562 – though 2170 people have recovered.

No deaths to report today as the provincial death toll remains at 164.

Here’s the regional breakdown of COVID-19 cases:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 900
  • Fraser Health: 1277
  • Island Health: 127
  • Interior Health: 195
  • Northern Health: 63

There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks. In total, 15 long-term care or assisted-living facilities and one acute-care unit have active outbreaks.

Dr. Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix are pleased with the continued ban on cruise ships through October 31, 2020.

“We commend the federal government’s decision to maintain the restrictions on cruise ships in Canadian waters until October. This is the right thing to do for our country and our province right now to prevent the introduction of COVID-19 into our coastal communities.
