One new COVID case in Northern Health; new PHO order given
VICTORIA — Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has announced eleven new cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia for a new total of 2,573. That number includes 64 in Northern Health, one additional positive case announced today. Once again there are no new deaths to report, that total remains at 164. There have been 2,181 people who have fully recovered.
Dr. Henry also announced a new PHO order during her update, restricting the operation of overnight camps for children and youth. She explained, “such camps often have large numbers of children, [campers and counsellors], coming from many different areas. They often take place in more remote areas. Physical distancing is very much a challenge in these situations.”
The mantra of “few faces and bigger spaces” was once again reiterated by Dr. Henry after several outbreaks were recorded across Canada due to proper social distancing measures not being taken, namely in Saskatoon and New Brunswick. The limit for social gatherings stays at 50 people.
This is the last weekend to complete the Your Story, Our Future survey. Over 340,000 people have already taken the survey.
