VICTORIA — Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced 24 new test positive cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia over the past two days today, including no new cases in the Northern Health region.

There are now 2597 test positive cases in B.C., though Henry says 85 per cent of those people (2207) have recovered.

Here’s the regional breakdown:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health – 904
  • Fraser Health – 1307
  • Vancouver Island Health – 127
  • Interior Health – 195
  • Northern Health – 64

Henry says there are currently 224 active cases of the virus in B.C., noting it’s proof that “there is still transmission. We’re not out of the woods yet.”

Of the 224 active cases, Henry says 32 people are hospitalized in B.C., including 5 people in critical care or intensive care units.

“There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks and the outbreak at The Residence at Clayton Heights has been declared over. In total, 12 long-term care or assisted-living facilities and one acute-care unit have active outbreaks.

“Public health teams continue to provide support for community outbreaks at federal corrections facilities, the processing facilities in the poultry sector and for individuals connected to the Kearl Lake plant in Alberta.

Sadly there was one additional death, a person living in the Fraser Health region, bringing the provincial death toll to 165.
