It was a busy first day of June for the Prince George Spruce Kings as they announced a pair of deals.

In the morning the squad announced they had acquired forward Roman Miller from the Powell River Kings as part of the Future Considerations from the Brett Pfoh trade made this past season.

“That was already decided on at the time of the trade,” shared Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes.

“We have known for months we were getting Rowan and he’s excited to be coming to Prince George.”

Later in the day, the Kings announced they had also gone out and acquired 20-year-old forward Christian Buono from the Merritt Centennials in exchange for Future Considerations.

Buono had 11 goals and 27 assists with the last place Centennials in the 19/20 season.

“We’re extremely excited to have Christian. He is going to be an offensive force for us. He has put up good numbers. He is a veteran player in the league and he is going to be a big piece for us,” stated Hawes.

The Kings struggled to put the puck in the back of the net last season. Scoring just 150 goals in 58 games which made them the lowest-scoring team in the league. Hawes feels these moves will hopefully help elevate production for next year.

“We went into a bit of a rebuild last year. We had lost about 15 players the previous year to NCAA schools and graduation. So replacing that many bodies was difficult and it was a rebuild for sure, but with the core group of guys coming back from last year’s team, how well recruiting has gone this year and the acquisitions of players like Christian and Rowan we are excited with what it looks like next year and we should be able to put more pucks in the back of the net.”
