Quesnel Council make moves to help local businesses during the pandemic

QUESNEL – As the province moves into its next phase in lifting COVID restriction.

What still remains in place are the health and safety restrictions on food and beverage service establishments.

Quesnel City Council took steps at a recent council meeting to help local establishments to apply for a temporary expanded service area.

This allows those to service more clients while staying within the social distancing guidelines.

The Barkerville Brewing Company opened up its doors this week to the public and just recently the brewery was given permission to expand its service area outdoors into its adjacent parking lot. WATCH CLIP:

Businesses wanting to expand will have to apply to the province for a temporary expanded service area.

Under the current COVID-19 guidelines, restaurants and bars are limited to a capacity of 50 percent to allow for proper social distancing.

This temporary expansion of the service area goes until the end of October of this year.

Barkerville Brewing Company is waiting for temporary fencing to build its new service area and permits from the city to allow them to encroach on some city-owned property. WATCH THE FULL STORY:
