Suspect, considered armed and dangerous, on the loose in Williams Lake
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Williams Lake RCMP say a man described as armed and dangerous is still on the loose.
In a news release, RCMP say they responded to a report of an erratic driver in the Wildwood area Tuesday afternoon (June 2). The man was reported to be driving a red 2001 Chevrolet Impala southbound on Highway 97, “passing vehicles at high speeds in a dangerous manner on double solid lines with the presence of oncoming traffic.”
The driver didn’t stop for responding officers, and collided with one police cruiser during the attempted stop. Mounties didn’t pursue when he took off along Highway 97 toward Dog Creek.
The vehicle was eventually found abandoned in a rural wooded area. A police helicopter, canine unit, ATVs and the Alexis Creek detachment were all called in, but couldn’t find the man.
