PRINCE GEORGE—Slowly but surely, things are beginning to open back up as B.C. continues on the path of its restart plan.

Locally, some yoga studios have already opened their doors, with Chinook Yoga being one of those to re-open on Monday (June 1).

According to Carla Wainwright, one of the Owners of Chinook Yoga, their studio had been closed for eleven weeks, and were pushed to offer their classes in a virtual way during that time. Virtual classes will continue, as in-class spaces are limited.

“We are really just trying to keep everyone safe by limiting the number of things that could be shared by people, ensuring they’re sanitized in between and really respecting the physical distancing.”—Carla Wainwright, Owner, Chinook Yoga

Physical distancing measures are being taken from the door, all the way into the studio . Students will have to pre-register for any classes and pay for them online. And before committing to a class, there is a waiver that must be completed by the yoga student, in which it asks you if you’ve had any COVID-19 symptoms, been out of the country recently, and if you’ve been in contact with anyone with COVID-19 symptoms.

Wainwright says that students are encouraged to bring their own mats, and towels to the class but are able to borrow blocks and straps, as those can be sanitized.

To help reduce any possible spread of COVID-19 Chinook Yoga is only offering classes out of one of its studios at its location, are sanitizing their studio and anything that’s been touched in between classes, and have placed hand sanitizing stations in the facility.

Chinook Yoga is offering 22 classes a week, half of what it used to.
