New City initiatives target graffiti
PRINCE GEORGE—The City of Prince George says that they are adding new initiatives, to their list of previous ones to help keep-up the health, and cleanliness of the downtown.
Recently the City has contracted a local organization to remove and cover graffiti on private property in the downtown. The POUNDS Project—which also monitors the washrooms located in the Canada Games Plaza—started painting over the graffiti last weekend and will provide the service every week to downtown businesses for the next three months.
Last week City of Prince George staff flushed and swept out sidewalks and alleyways in the downtown to remove debris, refuse including medical sharps, and other material. An estimated two cubic metres of material were removed from the downtown.
Other measures, announced earlier this year aimed at improving the safety, cleanliness, and inclusion for all residents are still continuing such as the PG Fire and Rescue Services, continuing to conduct alley patrols throughout the downtown.
