PRINCE GEORGE — Last Friday, Prince George hosted its first Black Lives Matter protest with a few hundred people showing up, and one day later, another was held with just as big a crowd. People lined up at the confluence of Highways 16 and 97 Saturday to make sure they got the word out, Black Lives Matter.

With the protests, however, some concerns about social distancing or a lack thereof. The groups who went together generally stayed together without getting too close to others, and most were wearing masks. Regardless, it’s not stopped the determined activists hoping to ignite change with a show of solidarity.

It could become a more regular thing. Nathan Andrews, one of the co-organizers of Saturday’s rally, said if they could form a more solid group that consistently works together it would make more of a difference rather than sporadic and less organized rallies.
