Seniors Resource Centre Re-opens

PRINCE GEORGE – The Council of Seniors Resource Centre on Victoria Street has re-opened, from 10 to 2 daily, Monday to Wednesday, ready to pick up where it left off prior to COVID-19. But it will be slightly different and perhaps will take some time getting used to.

“This is going to be posing a bit of a challenge,” explains Lola-Dawn Fennell, Executive Director for the Council of Seniors. “For this stage of our re-opening, we’re people to come in by appointment only. We have to limit the number of people in the space. Obviously, it’s a small space.”

The office has been closed for several weeks. At the start of the pandemic, care homes were particularly hard hit and the Council heard from many seniors who were terrified. But last week, restrictions around services like hair salons, are being lifted

“I really worry about the folks who are ‘Ah, it’s over. I can go back and do everything I used to do.’ Yes, we got off really lucky here in Prince George. Very, very lucky. Our numbers have been really good if you’re listening to Dr. Bonnie Henry. But we want to keep it that way.”
