VICTORIA—No new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the Northern Health region today.

Provincially, however, 12 new cases of the virus were reported, in a joint statement by Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister, Adrian Dix.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 911
  • Fraser Health: 1,378
  • Vancouver Island Health: 130
  • Interior Health: 195
  • Northern Health: 66

The total number of test positive cases is now at 2,680 in the province. 185 of those are active cases, 12 of those are in hospital and of those, four are in ICU.

No new deaths were reported today, the number of total deaths in B.C. remains at 167.

One new outbreak at a long-term care facility in Vancouver was reported, bringing the total to five long-term care or assisted living facilities with outbreaks in the province.

No new community outbreaks were reported today.

“Through our active surveillance and testing, we have recently identified two community clusters of COVID-19 associated with large family connections.”

Both Dix and Dr. Henry say in their statement that the identification of these two cluster in the province show that while provincial cases may be low, “COVID-19 is active and spreading in our communities.”

The duo are reminding the public that when you bring households together, everyone brings their own risk with them as well as increasing the risk for potentially spreading COVID-19.

“This is why fewer faces and bigger spaces needs to continue to be our guidepost for how we move forward.”

2,328 people have recovered from COVID-19 in B.C.
