PRINCE GEORGE—Local bookworms will now have more options to choose from when it comes to times for curbside pickups.

In a release from the Prince George Public Library, it says that after receiving feedback from the community the library decided to expand its hours for the curbside service, making it more accessible to patrons.

“We are pleased that we now have the procedures in place to be able to expand the curbside pickup service so that it is more accessible to our community.”—Paul Burry, Director, Prince George Public Library

The new hours for the Curbside hold Pickup at the Bob Harkins Branch are Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The new hours of operation will be implemented starting Tuesday, June 16.

The Curbside Hold Pickup service was launched by the Prince George Public Library in May, as a step into B.C.’s Restart Plan, making library materials available to the public while abiding by social distancing measures.

“We are also fortunate to have creative and dedicated staff who were able to develop a new way of processing returned material so that we can continue to isolate returns for 72 hours while keeping the return drop open for additional days.”—Paul Burry, Director, Prince George Public Library

For now, the Curbside Hold Pickup hours will remain the same at the Nechako Branch, from Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Library will also discontinue assigned pickup days with the increased hours. Once patrons have been notified that their holds are available, they are able to drop by and pickup their materials at their convenience.

The returns bin will now be open five days a week at the Bob Harkins Branch, from Tuesday at 10 a.m. to Saturday at 2 p.m.

Social distancing measures are still in place when picking up holds.
