PRINCE GEORGE—A UNBC Professor is being recognized for his work nationally.

Last week, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS) honoured UNBC Environmental Science Professor Dr. Peter Jackson for his professional accomplishments and dedication to the organization by naming him Fellow of the Society.

Jackson has been teaching at UNBC for 25 years, and in his time has taught students about atmospheric science, researched wind flow in complex terrain and engaged with the community regarding air quality and weather patterns.

“I am happy and touched to be named a Fellow of CMOS – it was a very nice and unexpected surprise.”–Dr. Peter Jackson, UNBC professor, Environmental Science

The designation is given to CMOS members who have provided exceptional long-term service and support to the Society, and/or those who have made outstanding contributions to the scientific, professional, educational, forecasting or broadcasting fields in atmospheric or ocean sciences in Canada.

Jackson has been involved with the Society since 1986 and has participated in an outreach project to install weather stations in schools across the province and the Yukon.
