Leafs superstar tests positive for COVID-19

TORONTO — Bad news for Leafs fans.

The Toronto Sun’s Steve Simmons is reporting that superstar Auston Matthews has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

The 22-year-old Matthews has reportedly gone into quarantine at his home in Arizona and is hoping to be well enough to travel to Toronto in time for the start of training camp on July 10.

Leafs goalie Frederik Andersen was reportedly staying with Matthews but did not test positive.

The Toronto Maple Leafs organization has yet to comment.
