Cats solidify 20-year-old situation for next season

Despite it being June it has been a busy off-season for the Prince George Cougars.

Over the weekend the club solved their 20-year-old situation for next season after the club placed forward Nikita Krivokrasov and Defenceman Marco Creta on waivers.

“We had five 2000 players and we had to make a decision,” shared Head Coach and General Manager Mark Lamb.

“The reason we put them out this early is for their benefit. They could get picked up by another team. They have some time to do other things.”

That leaves the Cougars with Cole Moberg, Jack Sander, and Ilijah Colina as their 20-year-olds for next season, something which the club is quite happy with.

“They’re all leaders,” stated Lamb.

“You need guys to look up to. I really like the look of our team moving forward with a lot of young players, but those young players are going to go through some hard times and you need some good veterans around them.”

On the back end, Moberg and Sander have combined for 368 games in the Western Hockey League. This will help guide a young d-core moving forward, which is comforting for the Cats bench boss.

The club will now turn their attention to the CHL Import Draft which is slated for next Tuesday, where the club selects 12th overall.
