14 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C., one death

VICTORIA—14 new cases of COVID-19, and one death were reported today (June 24) in a joint statement by Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix.

None of those cases were in the Northern Health Region. The north remains at 65 test positive cases.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 963
  • Fraser Health: 1,491
  • Vancouver Island Health: 131
  • Interior Health: 199
  • Northern Health: 65

The new cases brings B.C.’s total to 2,849 test positive cases, 162 of those are active, with 14 people in hospital and seven of those in ICU.

One new death was reported today in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, bringing the province’s death toll to 171.

No new outbreaks in health-care were reported today in total there are six long-term care or assisted living facilities and one acute-care facility that have outbreaks. No new community outbreaks were reported, only two community outbreaks remain as one was declared over today.

Once again both Dr. Henry and Dix are reminding the public to do its research before heading out across the province this summer. Safety precautions such as physical distancing, wearing a mask and hand washing must continue to be practiced when travelling across the province this summer.

2,516 people have recovered from COVID-19.
