PRINCE GEORGE – The Regional District and the city of Prince George would like to remind the public to use extreme caution near rivers and streams.

Our region is experiencing high water-flows which can cause bank erosion. Some residences near the Dore River were issued evacuation alerts last week.

City officials continue to monitor water levels on the Nechako and Fraser rivers.

On sections of the Dore River, the area near McBride remains around 70 residences continue to see high-water levels.

In the past week, city officials observed a 1.3-metre increase in water levels on the Fraser River and they continue to prepare for flooding if it were to occur.

Those in the alert area are asked to prepare in the event that an evacuation is required.

The public asked to avoid all streams and rivers as the banks can be volatile and unpredictable.

Most parts of the regional district and sections of the city remain under a provincial flood watch.
