Bowling & Billiards to look a little different in Prince George

Things continue to roll right along in the sporting world as leagues try to get back to playing all across the City, Province, and North America.

Meanwhile, things are already rolling right along for one sport in Prince George for the past month.

Black Diamond Bowl and Billiards has been open since June 1st, and have been offering residents a chance to both hit the hardwood or play some pool despite everything going on with Covid-19.

“It was kind of a slow process,” explained Day Time Manager Tiana Tecson.

“It was a lot of re-learning. A lot of re-training. A lot of new cleaning protocols. We kind of open slowly. We did the pool hall at first, get everyone use to the new cleaning protocols with that and then we opened up the bowling alleys one floor at a time.”

Both bowlers and pool players won’t have to worry about potentially dipping into other people’s space at the facility as just half the bowling lanes and pool tables are open for residents.

The facility is one of the first bowling alleys in the province to reopen and the staff at the bowling alley have been working hard to make sure all the proper cleaning protocols and measures are in place for everyone’s safety.

“Just making sure we are cleaning everything that people are touching. The pool rails, the balls, the cubbies where the balls sit. We have pre-set all of the equipment for everyone,” added Tecson.

When it comes to bowling, balls aren’t placed on the racks. They are cleaned after every use. The ball returns are completely cleaned after use, as well as all the couches and furniture behind the lanes.

When it comes to league play at Black Diamond, they are currently in the off-season.

However, they are hopeful to have both pool and bowling leagues resume sometime in the fall.
