PRINCE GEORGE — A 32-year old Prince George woman is facing charges following an alleged assault downtown yesterday (July 8) afternoon.

Prince George RCMP say they responded to the reported assault at approximately 2 p.m. at a retail store on the 400 block of Dominion Street.

“A representative of the store confronted a female shoplifter who had concealed merchandise and was attempting to leave,” says Prince George RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass. “The merchandise was recovered, however the staff member was assaulted before the suspect fled. A call was immediately placed to police and a description was provided.”

He says members of the RCMP’s Downtown Safety Unit located a woman matching the description of the suspect near 2nd Avenue and George Street. Douglass says the woman was arrested without incident. The suspect was found in possession of a knife, contrary to a current order.”
