Two million dollars project focused on improving the quality of life for seniors in Mackenzie.

MACKENZIE – A new $2 million five-year project funded by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program will focus on improving the quality of life for seniors living in Mackenzie.

Mackenzie Mayor Joan Atkinson says, “Mackenzie is experiencing steady growth in our senior population and this project will be the catalyst to ensuring seniors are an engaged, empowered demographic in our community.”

One part of the program will connect seniors with CNC trades students to create shared mentorship experiences through collaborative projects.

The project, titled “Senior Inclusion Solutions for Northern Communities,” has College of New Caledonia partnering with a number of local and regional groups to develop and implement creative and collaborative approaches to increase the social inclusion of seniors, 55 and older, in the District of Mackenzie.
