PRINCE GEORGE – Since the month of April of this year, a re-furbished bright orange sea-can was placed in the Canada Games Plaza.
The sea-can is the temporary office for POUNDS workers assisting people who find themselves living on the street and don’t have access to washrooms or services during the pandemic.
With the funding from the City of Prince George, the POUNDS team has temporarily adopted the Canada Games Plaza as their area of responsibility to support those who frequent the plaza.
The team shepherds the area from 7 am to Noon and again from 7 pm to midnight, every day.
This project team is made up of seven people who are trained in conflict resolution, therapeutic communication and included in the team is a therapeutic dog.
Currently, the team and Sam the therapy dog are set to be at the Canada Games Plaza until December.
