VICTORIA—No new deaths to COVID-19 were reported in B.C. today (July 14), and going on 35 days with no new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region.

13 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the province today, however.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 1,015
  • Fraser Health: 1,649
  • Vancouver Island Health: 135
  • Interior Health: 212
  • Northern Health: 65
  • Residents from outside of Canada: 52

The 13 new cases bring B.C.’s total of test positive cases of COVID-19 to 3,128, with 209 active cases.

14 of those cases are in hospital with five in ICU. No new health care or community outbreaks were reported today. However, there have been three new COVID-19 cases in health care system, bringing the total of residents who have been infected to 399, and staff to 252.

“We know there will be cases but we need to ensure that we can contact trace quickly and that’s how we all need to do our part to slow the spread and keep the cases to a manageable level.”—Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says that the recent uptick in cases are not unexpected, and says that they were expected as B.C. moved into Phase 3 of it’s Restart Plan.

Once again Dr. Henry made note of the fact that there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be transmitted through food or food packaging—this after yesterday’s announcement of an outbreak at a cherry farm in the Okanagan.
