5 Cougars alumni set to take part in Stanley Cup playoffs

If you’re struggling to find a team to cheer for during the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs which begin on August 1st, there will be no shortage of Cougars connections competing a Championship.

Zdeno Chara and the Boston Bruins are one of the favourites in the Eastern Conference and because they were one of the top teams in the East they avoided the play-in round and will take part in a four-team round-robin to determine the top four seeds for the first round of the playoffs.

Meanwhile, four other Cougars alumni will be featured in the best of five play-in round.

Smithers B.C product and current co-owner of the Cats Dan Hamhuis and the Nashville Predators will battle the Arizona Coyotes.

Jansen Harkins and the Winnipeg Jets will meet the Calgary Flames in an all Canadian match-up.

Meanwhile, out East, Martin Marincin and the Toronto Maple Leafs will tangle with the Columbus Blue Jackets and finally, former Stanley Cup Champion Brett Conolly and the Florida Panthers will meet the New York Islanders.

Exhibition play begins on July 28.
