Northern organizations benefit from $113,872 in funding to help rebuild province post COVID-19
PRINCE GEORGE—Five social purpose organizations in northern B.C. and the Cariboo are benefitting from funding to aid in the build back of the province post COVID-19.
$113,872 are being distributed between the Dawson Creek Society of Community Living, EcoTrust Canada, Potato House Project, Valemount Learning Centre, Seed the North, Inc. as part of the Government of Canada’s Investment Readiness Program (IRP).
Projects being supported:
- $22,532-Dawson Creek Society for Community Living for the purchase of a Commercial Shredder and Dust Collector to promote employment opportunities for those in their community with developmental disabilities.
- $37,000-EcoTrust Canada and their Transforming Fisheries Observers program in Prince Rupert.
- $10,000- Potato House Project to divert food waste from downtown local businesses in Williams Lake.
- $15,640- Valemount Learning Centre to purchase a hydroponic growing container to grow vegetables year-round, supply local businesses, create employment and further support their community.
- $28,700 -Seed the North, Inc. They will be sequestering carbon and restoring ecosystems to combat climate change in collaboration with Northern communities, creating jobs first in Hazelton, BC.
