RCMP see increased calls in at-home mechanic injury calls

Prince George – For many, the home is a safe place to be. Though a number of serious safety hazards lurk around the average home.

One of these hazards is a growing concern with RCMP as they find a growing trend in responding to residents injured while working on their own vehicles.

Recently, RCMP responded to a call at a home, where a resident had been injured while working on their vehicle.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the first call related to at-home mechanics this year. RCMP recommends having a qualified mechanic work on those complicated parts of the vehicle that could put you or others in harm’s way.

At CNC’s Automotive Program, they recommend research and critical thinking, as motorists decide to work on their own vehicles or modify them.

The first step is getting educated and deciding if the job is beyond their ability. Finding the correct way to fix or modify a vehicle is also important in keeping everyone safe.

Understanding and managing the risks with any “do it yourself” projects around the home is one of the best ways to keep those around you safe.
