TERRACE–RCMP in Terrace deployed a Conductive Energy Weapon (CEW), also known as a taser, to stop a woman from attacking a man with a metal pipe last week.

RCMP responded to a call on the 4600 block of Lakelse Avenue at around 2:40 a.m. on July 23, when a woman began attacking a man with a pipe. A release by Terrace RCMP says that frontline officers told the woman she was under arrest, and with their weapons drawn, instructed her to drop the pipe. The woman, however, ignored RCMP’s instructions and continued to chase the man with the pipe.

“This is a situation that could have easily had a different ending for the woman, the man she was attacking, and the responding officers.” – Michael Robinson, Staff Sergeant, Terrace RCMP

An officer proceeded to successfully deploy his CEW, which stabilized the woman allowing RCMP to disarm her safely.
