Northern Health remains at 80 test-positive cases of COVID-19, B.C. adds 23 more

VICTORIA–No new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region announced today (July 28), provincially, however, 23 new cases were reported.

The north remains at a total of 80 test-positive cases, with several new cases added last week after the Northern Health Authority announced its first outbreak of COVID-19 on Haida Gwaii.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 1,067
  • Fraser Health: 1,815
  • Vancouver Island Health: 143
  • Interior Health: 358
  • Northern Health: 80
  • People who reside outside of Canada: 60

Today’s (July 28) new cases bring B.C.’s total of test-positive cases to 3,523, with 253 of those deemed active.

There was one new death over the past 24 hours in the Vancouver Coastal Health region bringing the Province’s death toll to 194. There are no new community or health-care outbreaks

As we head into the B.C. Day long weekend B.C.’s Health Minister and POH are asking British Columbians to stay in small groups, and maintain safe distances. The two also reminding British Columbians of the amended Order which was announced yesterday (July 27) by Dr. Henry in which British Columbians are allowed a maximum of five people at a vacation rental accommodation and must take down contact information in order to be able to contact trace in case of an outbreak.
