2 new cases of COVID-19 in Northern Health, 50 in B.C.

VICTORIA—There are 50 new cases of COVID-19, including five epi-linked cases in B.C., two of the new cases of the virus are in the Northern Health Region.

The two additional cases in the north brings the total of test-positive cases to 88 in northern B.C.

Cases by Health Region:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 1,088
  • Fraser Health: 1,889
  • Vancouver Island Health: 144
  • Interior Health: 369
  • Northern Health: 88
  • People who reside outside of Canada: 63

One new death was reported in the Vancouver Coastal Health region bringing the total of COVID-19 related deaths to 195 in the province.

Today’s 50 additional cases brings the total of provincial test-positive cases to 3,641, of those only 278 are active cases. There are five people in hospital and two are in ICU.

One new health-care facility outbreak has been reported in the Fraser Health region. This new outbreak brings the total of health-care outbreaks to three, with two in long-term care facilities and one in acute care. No new community outbreaks were reported, and the outbreaks in Haida Gwaii and at Fraser Valley Packers Inc. continue to be monitored and supported by public health teams.

There are now 3,168 people who have recovered from COVID-19 in B.C.
