Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE — Watch out for possible thunderstorms this afternoon in Prince George and area.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” reads a statement from Environment Canada. “Severe thunderstorms are expected late this afternoon and this evening.”

The national forecaster reminds us that “lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”

The thunderstorm watch is also in effect for Quesnel. The heat warning for Williams Lake and Quesnel also remains in effect with a high of 29 expected today.
