Second rainiest July on record for Williams Lake: August outlook
PRINCE GEORGE—Williams Lake almost broke a record this past July for the amount of rainfall it saw.
According to meteorologist, Doug Lindquist, with Environment Canada, Williams Lake reported 240 per cent more rain than its usual amount of rainfall for the month of July. Usually Williams Lake sees 53 mm of rain throughout the month but this time saw 126 mm.
Prince George saw almost 45 per cent more rain in July than usual with 89 mm of rain falling compared to the average 62 mm.
As for what the rest of summer has in store for Prince George and neighbouring areas this August, “it’s going to be a mix of warm and cold,” said Lindquist in an over the phone interview. Precipitation wise Lindquist says that it can be hard to tell what the month will look like but as for this week (Aug.2-9) he says it looks like there is a chance for rain this Wednesday and Thursday.
