Despite the uncertainty of next basketball season for the UNBC Timberwolves, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams are preparing like they will be taking to the court in January.

As a result, they both have been hitting the pavement on the recruiting front, and for the men’s squad, they have added some high-end local talent for next year.

Cam Sale is one of those talents.

Sale grew up watching the UNBC Timberwolves on the hardcourt and now the D.P Todd grad will have the chance to suit up for his hometown team as he was announced as the team’s newest recruit.

“I was getting recruited by Todd (Jordan) since October. I just wanted to test my other options too, but at the end of the season, I really wanted to be a part of UNBC,” shared Sale to CKPG.

Despite having a shortened Grade 12 year because of a broken hand that put him out for 6-8 weeks, Sale feels throughout his High School career he saw his game take huge strides.

“I just think I got smarter over the years and I could see the game way better. I think I grew better mentally as a player,” added Sale.

Sale’s basketball resume is already impressive.

Sale is a three-time City All-Star, a two time Zone Most Valuable Player, a Zone Defensive MVP, and a two time B.C Provincial All-Star.

When it comes to off-season training, Sale has been working with the local players on the UNBC Timberwolves as they have been doing group conditioning sessions, while using social distancing.

Despite not knowing if there will be a season next year, the uncertainty hasn’t deterred the Prince George product from training and getting ready for his first year with the Timberwolves, and is hoping his first year of collegiate ball provides great growth both on and off the court.
