Fall semesters will be online
PRINCE GEORGE – While much attention has been on the return to school plans for K to 12, post-secondary institutions have been working quietly at their own plans. That includes both of the local institutions.
“We will be predominantly still in the online alternative because that’s what we’ve been planning for,” says Dr. Geoff Payne, Interim President of UNBC. “There are opportunities for us to increase in certain areas, such as with our labs, some of our upper-division classes that are smaller.”
The same holds true for the College of New Caledonia. However, that is an institution that has many more hands-on programs, like labs. President Dennis Johnson, though, says everything is being done by the book.
“For the most part, all those programs that have those lab experiences, we’ve been able to develop safety plans. The first line of defence is the physical distancing but, where necessary, we have shields, we have plexiglass, we have PPE.”
