PRINCE GEORGE – During the recent month streams in our region experienced multiple peak periods.

According to BC’s River Forecast center at the beginning of June started off with a bit of a bang.

Heavy precipitation and the melt of a large snowpack contributed to localized flooding for the Upper Fraser and its tributaries.

This week the City has re-opened riverfront parks after closing them earlier this year due to high water and flooding.

The fluctuating weather conditions contributed to much of the flooding.

According to the BC River Forecast Centre, the biggest peak for the Upper Fraser was at the beginning of July.

Since the middle of June residents in McBride and surrounding areas have dealt with the forces of mother nature from floods to landslides.

The evacuation order still remains in place for four properties in the McBride area. Officials will continue to watch water levels as there is a potential for more rain events.

The Regional district recommends residents should be prepared for the risk of flooding and have a 72-hour emergency kit prepared.
