DAWSON CREEK — Two people will be in court today in Dawson Creek in connection to the police seizure of guns and drugs.

North District Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says it all started on Friday Aug. 7, when Dawson Creek RCMP received a report of a suspicious activity at a local business.

“The behaviour of the customers prompted the business to call police, providing a description of the individuals as well as the vehicle they were driving.”

She says a short time later, the vehicle was seen leaving a “known drug house” and police attempted to stop the vehicle.

“The vehicle fled from police, however later came to a stop after making multiple attempts to evade the police,” says Saunderson. “The driver and passenger were arrested without further incident.”

During the investigation, she says police recovered a stolen 9mm Chiappa rifle with a loaded magazine. A box of 9mm ammo along with a metal airsoft handgun with a live .22 cal round in the breech.

Saunderson says further evidence led police to executing two search warrants at two separate residences in Dawson Creek yesterday, where police seized suspected cocaine, meth and fentanyl, over $4000 in cash and multiple firearms.

Saunderson says the investigation is ongoing. If you have any information you’re asked to call the Dawson Creek RCMP at (250)784-3700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-(800)222-8477.
