UBCM Convention goes virtual
PRINCE GEORGE – COVID-19 has forced the Union of BC Municipalities to do something it has never done before.
“I think since 1905, UBCM has held a convention every year and they’ve gone through the Spanish Flu, they’ve gone through the Great Depression, they’ve gone through World War One and Two and they’ve always had a convention,” explains Brian Frenkel, First Vice President of UBCM.
Registration is open and the schedule includes presentations from Premier John Horgan as well as Opposition Leader Andrew Wilkinson.
And Frenkel says the resolutions, of which there more than 200, will be discussed. “We’ve seen the platform and you will, as a registered participant, be able to the convention just like you would see it and go into the main hall or go to a plenary session or go to the trade show. It’s going to be interesting.”
