26 reported cases of COVID-19 since outbreak declared on Haida Gwaii
HAIDA GWAII–Northern Health has released an update on the first, and only outbreak in the Northern Health Authority, this far.
The outbreak was declared on July 24 and since then there have been a total of 26 confirmed cases on the northern archipelago. As of today, all but one of the cases is considered recovered.
“Northern Health public health staff continue to follow up with the remaining active case, and four close contacts, who continue to self-isolate at home and monitor for symptoms.”–Release from Northern Health
Northern Health says that community outbreak measures remain in place and that residents of the islands are encouraged to continue to work together to stop the spread of the virus. For the time being Northern Health will continue to monitor the situation over the coming weeks and will declare the outbreak over once they are confident that the chains of transmission have come to a halt.
