That’s how Wade Loukes, the Manager of Arenas for the City of Prince George, describes the access to the Kin Centres, starting Monday.

There are three different entrances, one for each arena. The entrance for Kin 1 is at the North end of the rink, the entrance is through the Kin 2 doors and the entrance for Kin 3 is via the Atrium.

Maps for the individual arenas and rules around entrance safety can be found here:

Special seating has been set up for the user groups, though each user should be as suited up as possible “within reason” as there will be no access to change rooms.

“In a normal operation, we would 15 minutes between groups and that would give us sufficient time to do an ice re-surface. We’ve now increased that to 30 minutes,” says Loukes, and that is to accommodate additional sanitizing of the surfaces of common use, such as the boards.

The City will re-open the Kin Centres on Monday, August 17, although it will cost the city a bit more in staffing to facilitate the additional sanitizing, while there is less revenue flowing in with fewer users.

The plan is to also open the Aquatic Centre in early September.

But in each case, City staff says the plans to date are very fluid and could change overnight, based on orders issued from the Provincial Health Office.
