“Where there’s a will there’s a way”: Frenkel applauds efforts of weekend Air Hug
VANDERHOOF — The Vanderhoof Airshow, running in conjunction with their sister show in Quesnel, has been forced to cancel this year. Instead, an Air Hug will spread across a number of communities in the region.
“When it turned out we weren’t able to do our normal show this year we wanted to come up with some sort of alternate event and, taking a page from the Snowbirds and other teams, we decided that we would try and do a flyover over our region,” explained Anne Stevens, Secretary for the Vanderhoof International Airshow Society, of the event four months in the making. “Especially at that time we were all suffering from a lack of contact and air hugs were about all we could give so we decided to give it that name to reach out and air hug the whole community.”
The Air Hug starts in Vanderhoof with departure at noon. It will hit Saik’uz, Cluculz Lake, Bednesti, Norman Lake, Prince George, and other communities in the Bulkley Nechako. It has been four months in the making and will be a little different for fans of the regular airshow, a staple for Vanderhoof summers.
