The 2019-2020 season was a year of change for the Spruce Kings and a year of fresh faces.

One of the new faces in the line-up for the Spruce Kings was Andrew Seaman.

The 19-year-old from Chicago, Illinois was a rookie this past season with the Kings as he made the transition from prep hockey in the United States to the BCHL.

“The speed jumps out of you. It is a lot faster,” shared Seaman to CKPG.

“There is also a big focus on defence. You have to take care of your own defensive responsibilities in your own end.”

It’s been a one of a kind off-season due to Covid-19 and has created some different challenges both personally and when it comes to training.

“It has been a whirlwind summer. Things are just starting to open up here. It was difficult to get on the ice and in the gym at the start of quarantine. Since things have opened up though it has been a normal summer for me.”

Of course with the BCHL coming out and stating they will not be starting until December, the league’s teams will have extended training camps which will create an interesting dynamic ahead of the campaign.

When it comes to goals for the 2020-2021 season, Seaman has one thing on his mind.

“I think our team’s one goal is to win a Championship. The National Championship. That’s our goal. For me, my personal goal is to do anything to help this team win.”
