Lightning caused wildfire burning southeast of Purden Lake
PRINCE GEORGE–UPDATE: The fire has been deemed under control by the BC Wildfire Service.
EARLIER: A wildfire burning southeast of Prince George has been deemed to have been caused by lightning and is currently considered out of control by the BC Wildfire Service (BCWFS).
The BC Wildfire Service says that the fire, east of Purden Lake Provincial Park, is 0.2 hectares in size and is burning partway up a nearby mountain. No structures are at risk or are near the fire.
One initial attack crew is currently tending to the fire, along with a helicopter. BCWS says they do not anticipate the need for other resources at this time.
